HOMINY
Hominy is corn that has been dried, had its outer shell removed and then is soaked causing it to puff up. It's pronounced: “HAHM-uh-nee.” There are many traditional recipes that feature hominy including Authentic Mexican dishes such as menudo and pozole. Hominy is also utilized in the Southern United States for recipes such as hominy bread, hominy chili, hog n' hominy, casseroles and fried dishes. Hominy can also be ground coarsely to make hominy grits or into a fine mash (dough) to make masa, a dough used regularly in Latin American cuisine
